University of Phuong Dong

Established by the Prime Minister of Vietnam under Decision No. 350/TTg on July 8, 1994, University of Phuong Dong (formerly Phuong Dong University) was founded during a transformative era of national educational reform. The university was established to bridge the gap between limited public resources and the surging demand for high-quality professional training, effectively mobilizing societal contributions to the national education system. From its inception, the university has been dedicated to cultivating a highly skilled workforce to drive Vietnam’s socio-economic growth amid increasing global integration. As a pioneer in Vietnam’s non-public higher education sector, University of Phuong Dong aligns with government policies advocating for the "socialization of education," encouraging diversified investment and broader participation in the academic sector. By the end of 2025, the university had significantly enriched the national workforce, graduating more than 50,000 professionals - including architects, engineers, and bachelors - alongside 167 master’s degree holders. In a continuous pursuit of academic excellence, the university reached a historic milestone on April 28, 2025. Under Decision No. 848/QĐ-TTg, the Prime Minister approved a strategic transition in the university's governance model, moving from a people-founded university to a private university structure. This evolution marks a new chapter of development, characterized by increased professionalism, modernization, and deeper integration into both regional and international higher education systems. Effective June 1, 2025, University of Phuong Dong officially became a member of the Van Lang Education Group, one of Vietnam’s premier private educational systems. This partnership integrates the university into a comprehensive network spanning from high school to postgraduate levels. Joining the Van Lang ecosystem provides the university with expanded opportunities to strengthen academic quality, broaden international partnerships, and modernize its infrastructure, supporting its long-term strategic vision.
